Leland Downtown Playbook

Leland, Mississippi · with the Leland Chamber of Commerce

The place

Downtown Leland, on the banks of Deer Creek. Local property owners partnered with the Leland Chamber of Commerce to reimagine the downtown core of this Delta community. Eleven property renovations are planned, with numerous possibilities for retail and hospitality tenants.

What we built

Kudzu Collective created a Downtown Playbook highlighting the community's assets. It carries a property inventory, a connectivity analysis, a resource matrix, a market study, and priority recommendations — plus concepts for facade rehabilitations of key properties within the study area.

Why a playbook

A study that sits on a shelf has not built any capacity. The playbook is organized so a chamber director, a property owner, or a volunteer board can find the next actionable step without an interpreter — which is what lets the work continue between grant cycles.
